bigger zoom lenses are white for a reason. they are painted white so they dont attract alot of heat while being staitioned on a tripod for long periods of time…

yep it depends even where do you use that lense…
for example i usually use it in circuits and tracks where many photogaphers have lens much expensive than this so i’m not in trouble..

In a way it looks cool
it’ll make you look like a pro photographer. lol
but I hope canon made an option or a silicon case that’ll cover the white paint
I can’t use that in the streets! In a minute my lens would be gone -_-

LOL it’s true but i like in white…

it would be really cool if Canon painted it black
that lens is like shouting
“Hey, I’m 1,700 Dollars, Come and Steal me!”
another thing is… the IS version is $650+ more than the non-IS version
But nevertheless, this lens is great
great focal length, good bokeh, sharp, large aperture and the like

That makes sense… but then why don’t Nikon and Sigma make their large lenses white? If were that important they would surely make their lenses white too… must just be a feature Canon decided on.

I just got this lens last week! I got it as MINT CONDITION off of Ebay, $1,650 instead of $2k in the store, and I didn’t pay a DIME of tax!
This is the best lens I’ve ever owned. The bokeh is AMAZING, the speed is AMAZING, the colors are AMAZING, and the clarity is AMAZING.
I hope this helps : )
